Our Background

About Us

Learn about our humble beginnings, the team, and the foundational pillars that drive our daily rescue operations at The Animal Haven.

Organization Story

The Animal Haven began in 2021 when a small group of animal welfare advocates noticed a critical gap in shelter systems: senior animals and those with severe orthopedic or medical conditions were routinely euthanized due to budget constraints and care overhead.

Starting on a single acre of rented pasture, we set out to build a safe sanctuary space where animals could heal. Through the support of a global, tech-forward community, we established our permanent sanctuary site. We designed it as a refuge dedicated entirely to comfort, advanced vet care, and behavioral rehabilitation.

By leveraging decentralized ledger technology for fundraising, we bypassed traditional transaction fees, ensuring that every dollar contributed reaches the animal clinic directly.

Founder Story

Marcus Reed founded The Animal Haven, inspired by the transformation of a rescued senior dog that aided his own personal recovery. Witnessing the profound resilience of animals motivated Marcus to establish a safe environment where they could heal.

Marcus envisioned a new rescue model based on the operational standards of The Asher House—an environment that values the emotional freedom of animals as much as their physical safety. His focus remains on storytelling: showing the complete journey of rescued animals to build a deeply empathetic community of global supporters.

"The connection between rescued animals and humans is reciprocal. By providing them a sanctuary to heal, we find a sanctuary ourselves." — Marcus Reed, Founder
